I was thinking this is a very hard situation, I read an article about interviews with former slaves of the Australian terrorist who took his wife and children to Syria .The ex slaves said the children were constantly threatening them, beating them and saying they were going to behead them while filming it.
They also said the wife and kids are wanting to come back to Australia , im thinking the men will not dare set foot here as they have committed war crimes , the wife I imagine could be jailed but what the heck could be done with the kids?
I can't believe they could ever be rehabilitated ,i would not trust them ever after that type of behavior
But there is nothing could be done with them under Australian laws. Even though they are only children I can't help thinking it would be best if they die over there

Even though they are children of a single mother, they could still have a father who they could live with, maternal or paternal grandparents... or other close/family friends. Depends how long the mother's sentence is... others might be able to look after them for a short period of time (less than a year).
A child with no one to live with, if their only parent goes to jail would become a ward of the state, I presume.
Recently a mother of 3 in my area, was charged and convicted of stealing customers money (bank teller), she was very lucky to get supervised detention at home. I would say having 3 young children would have swung in her favour.

It is very frightning how fast the kids seem to have become so awful.when the mum first took them over there to join the jihad their father was involved in they were said to be nice ordinary kids at a public school and normal as and that was Sept from memory.

Widows. They still could have grand parents and grand parents in law, aunts, uncles, older siblings....

With a father like him I suppose the children would turn out bad as well
They're not bad. They have been conditioned. Maybe lost causes, because, frankly, kids the same age without the baggage are not what society expects.
I don't like your last statement. Children are not necessarily their parents.
