Catholic schools get government funding anyway? now university money is going towards private schooling. wth.
if Catholics want their own little private indoctrination schools- fine- but they should pay for them. fgs just call the Vatican.

Having independent schools saves Commonwealth and State governments in order of $3.9 billion a year in recurrent funding alone. That is, for the governments of Australia to educate in government schools those students currently attending non-government schools would cost an additional $8.3 billion per annum of which approximately $3.9 billion is attributed to students attending independent schools.
In the absence of the non-government school sector, either total government spending on education (and most likely taxation) would have to increase or average government funding per student in government schools would need to be reduced.
The difference between government funding received and the cost of educating a child at an independent school is met by parents from their after tax income.

Folks - the OP isn't interested in facts - just a bit of self confessed Catholic bashing with no interest in an answer (regardless of its accuracy) if it contradicts their small minded understanding of the situation.

Replying to other posts now crikey - like the ones that say private schools get more Govt funding than private.
People drive past a private school - they see a flash new gym or hall.
Do they realise the fees parents pay are made up of:
Term fees
Activity Fees
&
Building Fees? (these fees the parents pay are only used to put towards new buildings).

what is the ratio of public schools to private ? its only that basis you can judge funding on apart from factoring in fees. my friends kids cost around 3 and a half k per term each in fees. or over $10.000 a term. the boys want to be dancers 🙂
actually its $21,000 a term ive just been told for 3. i hope those boys are good dancers. they are nice kids.
