Opened packaging for a laptop advertised as new

I bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop  on ebay. It was advertised as new but the packaging when it arrived had the seal over the box and the  laptop broken. Also I have seen this seller advertise factory reconditioned laptops. When I searched google for the serial number on the laptop, this  one doesn't come up but similar ones come up with only 4 Gb of RAM while this one has 8 Gb.

Any thoughts on my course of acion as I'm not quite comfortable

Hi , if new (in context effectively not previously registered, not obviously used , current retail model) you should be able to register in your name here.

Not sure that Toshiba honours warranty for one of their product items that a current owner may have been bought from an unauthorised Seller

ps - package may have been opened in order to add additional memory
