DNA - Grace felt her heart melting at that adorable little face, but she wanted to be careful in choosing a companion for Rufus, since some breeds were prone to serious health issues, so she asked the woman in charge, “Have you any idea about this cute darling’s DNA?”

AGREE - I totally agree  that Gracie decided to get Rufus DNA checked by the woman in charge. At least she was making sure.

SOUP - In the meantime, Grace was feeling increasingly hungry and thinking longingly about dinner, so she stroked the little head of the Jack Russell cross, said a pleasant goodbye after noting down the time tomorrow for the meet and greet, and drove home - where Rufus sniffed suspiciously at her “other dog” smell, and jumped around her as she prepared some soup.

POPULAR - It wasn`t long before Grace and Sue realised how popular Rufus had become. Watching him sprint around they were sure the 2 dogs would get on fine.

RESTLESS - That night, as the moon slid behind a cloud and the surroundings deepened into shadow, Grace awoke from a restless sleep (for Rufus had scratched at her door until allowed in, and repeatedly tried to jump onto her bed, ignoring the lovely dog bed she had placed on the floor) - and felt that something was wrong; Rufus was making deep little growling sounds, and she slid out of bed, whispered “Rufus, good boy - what is it?”, before taking her phone, activating the torch on it, and padding quietly out of her room, right through to the living room which looked out upon the street - and through the window she could see two strange figures trying to break into her neighbour’s car.
