The Ups and Downs of Synonyms (New Game)

I hope this new game will be fun...

In this new game, you have to select a word from the sentence of the previous poster and write a new sentence with a synonym of that word that is either longer or shorter than the original word.

The next poster then chooses a new word from your sentence, selects a synonym of that word that is either longer or shorter and writes a new sentence, and so on.

For example:

- She liked to spend a lot of time at the library, reading old books and pondering about life.

The next poster chooses a word, for example old, and a synonym of a different length, for example elderly, and then writes a new sentence.

- He visited his elderly brother in his tiny apartment and listened to some nice, relaxing music with him.

And so on...

PROJECT - He wanted to have a plan for 2023, but then he thought he would just let life happen.

WANTED - One can't always have what one wants, sometimes life just won't let a desired outcome eventuate.

LET - Samantha finally realised that she couldn’t afford her flat any longer … not unless she advertised for a flatmate, so that very day she put up a FOR RENT sign in the local supermarket.

FLAT - She found the landscape quite boring, unending level plains without even a small hill on the horizon to break up the monotony.

HORIZON - Adam Folwyn, the up-and-coming architect who’d just been taken on by Newscape Designs, glared impatiently at the city skyline, murmuring “It’s all so untidy - I think we can do better than this.”

UNTIDY - Her bedroom was always messy when she was a teenager, so her father couldn't believe his ears when she complained that he should have made sure to clean the single glass he used for a drink of water.

EARS - Ivan was quite amused when, after his daughter had accidentally smacked her brother on the side of his head, 8-year-old Nathaniel screwed up his face and announced “My auditory apparatuses have been compromised!”
