The Ups and Downs of Synonyms (New Game)

I hope this new game will be fun...

In this new game, you have to select a word from the sentence of the previous poster and write a new sentence with a synonym of that word that is either longer or shorter than the original word.

The next poster then chooses a new word from your sentence, selects a synonym of that word that is either longer or shorter and writes a new sentence, and so on.

For example:

- She liked to spend a lot of time at the library, reading old books and pondering about life.

The next poster chooses a word, for example old, and a synonym of a different length, for example elderly, and then writes a new sentence.

- He visited his elderly brother in his tiny apartment and listened to some nice, relaxing music with him.

And so on...

Let's get started...

- When she entered the shop that seemed to have magically appeared overnight, she had a strange feeling of déjà vu, even if she was sure she had never seen it before, let alone entered it.

NIGHTCLUB - "It's a bit of a dive," said Nigel disapprovingly, as he approached The Gin Sling Kitten's neon-lit exterior, "and I don't see parking anywhere nearby - which makes this whole idea especially stupid; why can't we just go to the Mercury Lounge as usual, where at least they have valet parking and a decent dress code?"

HAIRY - She had been sitting peacefully near the resort pool, but was startled by a child's shrill scream - when she looked up the child was sobbing in her mother's arms, having been terrified by the large "bear", which was actually a very embarrassed, extremely hirsute man who had just removed his t-shirt so he could go for a refreshing swim.

OVERGROWN - Matthias shuffled past the gates of the old city nicknamed the “City of the Giants”, savouring the teasing aromas of strange spices and heady perfumes, but even here, where the average person was over six feet tall, it took only a few moments before he was aware of every eye upon him as the inhabitants were frightened and stunned by his huge stature — not his fault, but he had been born with a corrupted gene sequence that had caused him to grow excessively until his enlarged height had caused constant pain and brittle bones.
