I am not receiving the email containing the verification code to change my email address

I have done this multiple times to no avail. Checked Thunderbird (Junk/spam etc.) as well as the webmail of the Messaging Co. - nothing.

Even tried another email, same result.

I am consolidating email accounts is the reason for this.

You cannot consolidate email addresses for different accounts.

 

Every account you have must have a unique email address.

Into 1 account? And are you using that account to make changes? It is freaky Friday (eBay do their maintenance today)
