Hi all.
A family member who has been on eBay for quite sometime as a buyer has decided to sell some items. This item was listed and sold. eBay then held the funds until their identity was verified. They have an expired passport no drivers licence but do have NSW proof of age card.
We have tried entering the proof of age into the drivers licence fields like mentioned in some other posts but those posts were from over a year ago. No good now.
You can't upload tax document or other documents anywhere else. How is anyone else getting their identity verified?

All good problem has been fixed. Well not really but the ordeal is over. Seller refunded the buyer from own bank account and hold payment released. This ordeal has been ongoing for the last 3 weeks. Seller had to wait the required amount of time so the buyer could file a non received item claim per eBays recommendation via online chat. Seller uploaded proof of age but was rejected upon chatting to eBay chat last week the agent basically said get a passport and offered no other solutions. The agent today insisted that you could upload the documents however again no such section. Seller took the gamble to refund via on bank account and worked out. Anyway thanks for the replies..
Case Closed.

They will probably have to bite the bullet and get a new passport. Bear in mind that they will also need a bank account in their name too which will need to be verified. And everything must match down to the last letter on every document and account across the board.
They will still need to send the item within their handling time in order to avoid a defect on their account.
Alternatively the only other option is to cancel and refund the sale (assuming they have not already sent it), get fully ID and bank verified and then list it again.

Why are you trying to enter ' proof of age ' - into a Drivers Licence.
We accept the following forms of valid identification:
There must be elsewhere to add other forms of ID.

I am very surprised eBay is still letting people list items for sale if they have not signed up for Managed Payments, especially as it has been 'a thing' for well over two years
Still, eBay get their FVF so, why would'nt they really

Why would they refund via a bank account?
If the dispute is still open, the buyer will get another refund from Ebay.
Ebay cannot track funds sent via bank account, so the buyer MUST close the dispute.

Oh God..... yet another one who puts the cart before the horse, then comes here when it wont move forward! 😡
-1) READ THE DAMN SELLING GUIDELINES!!
-2) DO WHAT THE GUIDELINES STATE: Managed payments, verify your selling account, add a bank account, verify the bank account....... etc
-3) THEN and only then, you are ready and set up to list and sell!

jane... calm down.
It's not the OP's fault that eBay allowed a family member to list before MP Registration... as they have done to others. Your anger should be directed at eBay.

I agree with you and sandy.
Ebay should not be letting people list to sell at all unless they have filled out all the required registration forms beforehand.
If we are talking of horses and carts, ebay is guilty.
It is also ridiculous (or so I believe) that a person should have to go get a passport to qualify as a seller. I am not saying ebay actually does require that, but if it doesn't, it seems very unhelpful for an ebay agent to just tell someone to get a passport .

@springy - whilst it might seem unreasonable/unhelpful to insist on have valid, high scoring photo ID, it really isn't. Most companies are required to KYC (know your customer), and requesting this type of ID is a valid, legal reason. I registered on Amazon and Etsy several years ago and had to supply ALL that information (and even more for Amazon), before I could even open an account.
The only thing I would agree with is that people should not be allowed to list until they are verified - I do find that a rather annoying issue as it is causing a lot of grief.
