Excess postage costs

Hi, I just received an item I won on auction. At time of payment I was charged $8.50 postage. On arrival of my parcel it was post marked $1.80, a differences of $6.70. Additional the envelope was used, turned inside out and stapled and taped back together. The garment inside was placed in crumpled used 'parcel post' bag.
I have contacted the seller (politely) and she maintains that the postage cost is part of the overall item cost (even thought I won this through auction). Am I being unreasonable about my complaint or am I due a refund?

I can't advise as to whther or not you are due a refund, (up to the sellers integrity) but I would most certainly have refunded you the excess, but this seller sounds like she is avoiding eBay fee's by charging OTT postage.

Not much you can do if she will not refund, but I would definitely make my disappointment know when leaving feedback.

You can report exhorbitant over charges in postage to eBay, but really don't know if much is done about it.

Have a look at her feedback and see if this seems to be a regular occurrence with this seller.
