Why is postage doubled up when both items are being sent in the same package?

I am looking at purchasing two items from the same seller and the postage is AU $89.70 as these will be shipped in the same package could you please advise why twice the postage is required?

Are the items sent via the Global Shipping Program/Pitney Bowes? Judging from the amount, it is a possibility. Sadly, postage cannot be combined with Pitney Bowes.

Have you contacted the seller? A possibility would be creating a single listing for your with both items.
