For example, I just sold an item to a buyer in Rooty Hill NSW 2766. I'm in Cromer NSW 2099.
The item was 800g 32 x 23 x 12 cm
eBay charged the buyer $9.27 for the calculated postage.
eBay is charging me $14.95 for an eBay printable label.
This happens all the time. Why didn't eBay charge the buyer the full $14.95?
Did you put weight and dimensions in the listing and select 'calculated postage'? Or did you select flat postage and neglected to input dimensions?
What you have been charged for is a 1kg satchel/box. What your buyer was quoted was a small satchel/box. Which can weigh up to 5kg, if the dimensions are within limits. The small satchel is 37cm x 23cm flat. You have to allow for girth. Not sure about the boxes - AP website will have the dimensions.
