In the past when I bought stuff on ebay AU using a credit card, all the transactions showed as PayPal AU. However recently I noticed that some of them came up on my statement as PayPal HK, and I was charged a foreign transaction fee, although the price was in AUD and some of the items were even located in Australia.
The thing that I find annoying is there seems to be no indicator of whether a transaction will be processed in AU or HK - I can't see any connection to the item location or the seller's country of registration. Some items located in China have been processed in Australia and vice-versa!
It would be nice to know this, so that I don't get surprise fees when I look at my CC statement!
