seller is asking for bank details for my refund as the purchase was outside the 90 days

i purchased an item, which has now failed. The seller has offered a full refund as he has no stock to replace the item, and has asked for my bank details to give me a refund. Is this normal practice

As far as I'm concerned - no way - that gives your name etc etc

Wouldn't the seller already have the buyer's name and address anyway?
