Hi,
do I edit/update my payment account in ebay or paypal (or both) to receive or pay credits/debit.
my paypal account is my chosen method on ebay at present,

You can use PayPal to pay, but not to receive payments if you have registered for Managed Payments.
To change payment options, go to account settings - payment information.
