How do I list items in my store I have just opened a store and find all the blurbs confusing at this stage.

I cannot find anywhere the tools to use the store listing if there is one. I have several unsold items pre store and want to list them in the store to run until sold. I just keep getting the normal listing with the option of up to 10 days. I find the store a waste of good dollars. Anyone help me:-( out here please.
