I have a product on auction right now with no bids yet but a seller has made an offer. If I accept the offer will the auction end and the buyer wins the item or will the auction officially begin in that the first bid has been placed?

Has the offer been made thru the eBay Make an Offer feature or in a message?
If in a message then be aware that scammers target new sellers.
