Can I list an item and offer it for free? How do I go about it?

I've listed an item a few times and had a bit of interest but it didn't sell. Now I would like to list it as free. Can I do this?

If you are meaning you want to give something away, why not list on Gumtree - I don't think eBay has a 'free category' but someone else will correct me if I am wrong. Also as it is free, Gtree do not have listing fee's
