Ebay demanding payments from buyers, despite seller agreeing to wait, in order to combine postage.

I wonder if anyone has recently experienced this.

I always offer combined shipping, and occasionally that can mean waiting for several days between end of Seperate auctions, to combine the items into one invoice for the buyer.

On two occasions recently, a couple of my regular buyers have paid early, incurring excess postage, because they said ebay threatened to cancel the transaction, if they didn't make payment on a specific date.

Now if this is a new policy, its a bit disturbing because it's detrimental to both buyer and seller.

Imagine awaiting a large payment from a regular customer, then having the transaction cancelled, surely that can't be right.

Surely it's up to the buyer and seller to action transaction cancellations ?

Yes, we've had the same problem.

The reminders have changed lately, due to eBay's changed unpaid items processes.

The buyer used to receive 1 notification after 48 hours, now they receive 1 after abour 24 hours, and another 24-36 hours later, which is more strongly worded and advises the buyer that "the seller may cancel the order if payment is not received by such and such a date".

Due to this, we've now turned off the automatic reminder message (in "communication with buyers"), but aren't sure if it will stop all reminders, or only the first one.

In the US eBay now automatically cancels any item not paid for within (I think) 4 days and the buyer is issued a strike for non payment so this may have been introduced here now

You can change your setting's if you want to continue managing the UPI's yourselves, if you don't this will be automatic.

I have been in similar situations (not recently), but I just got "reminders", and the emails specifically said to ignore the reminder if I had reached an agreement with the seller (for example for combined postage, waiting for auctions to finish). I don't know if something has changed now. They never threatened to cancel the transactions. And the seller also said to ignore the reminders.

I have heard that there has been a change, and that now transactions are cancelled if a buyer does not pay. I don't know if it is this change that affects the reminders.
