How do Bids vanish?

I checked my items up for sale and it showed bids on all of them. When I logged back in half an hour later I had people watching the items but no bids and no indication that the bids were placed and withdrawn? I am new to selling and a little confused as to how this could happen. I am sure I am not going nuts as three other people also saw the bids via my page

It must have been a glitch, because none of your items have bids, or have had bids retracted as this would show in the bid history.
