I got fleeced

I got fleeced by a doctor ,

Sold him a Dehumidifier with a Daily Moisture Removal Capacity of 600mL/24Hours ± 20% (at 30°C, 80%RH) he opened a return request and said it was defective because it didn't remove 1100mL while he was having a shower with it I tried to explain to him that, that is well beyond It's capabilities but he didn't care so I ask eBay to step in (Big mistake) and they gave him a full refund without even talking to me and let him keep the item so I tried to appeal it and all I got was-

"After reviewing this case, we decided to keep the original outcome. We weren't able to grant your appeal because we determined the original decision was correct."

How is eBay legally allowed to do this?

Is there anything I can do to try and get my money back?
