I have lost an item which has been sold. Refunded buyer through PP with note apologising.

I have lost or cant find an item which has been sold.  I have refunded the buyer through Paypal with a note of apology.  Do I have to cancel from the drop down menu against the sale or does the Paypal refund suffice?  I dont want to get a defect as this is the first

time it has happened to me. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Refunding in PayPal does not cancel the transaction. It only refunds that payment.

Select a cancellation from the drop down menu to the right of item in your sold list.

You will need to select that you are cancelling and get a defect. (afterall, it is your fault)

If you select the buyer wants the cancellation (no defect), they can see that at their end and may give you bad feedback.
