Is it better to sell an item at a fixed price or auction it?

I want to sell a projector (never used). This is my first time selling on ebay...is it better price by selling the item at a fixed price of auctioning it.

Also, the item is in its original packaging...can I just ship it like that, or do I have to put it inside another box? Where do I go to ship it?

Thanks in advance.

Definitely sell in a Buy It Now format. An auction format is for items that will be hotly contested, and lets face it a projector is a great thing but you're not going to have half a dozen buyers gagging for it and driving the price up.

Definitely it needs to be extremely well wrapped with bubble wrap, then put inside a box with no room for it to flop around. Use scrunched up bubble to fill any gaps. Wrap the cord and plug separately and any trays or loose pieces separately. Extra care around the lens. Then this carefully packed box needs to go into a larger box with peanuts all the way around - "double boxing" in effect. Remember you the seller will have to refund if it gets broken. Spending a little more time and cost on the packaging is well worth it in the long run.

Sending with a courier www.e-go.com.au - book and pay online, usually cheaper and definitely better than A.P.
