Is it legal for ebay to invoice one amount but direct debit a higher amount?

My invoice for March (March1 - March 31) is $57.81 but ebay direct debited $216.19. Without warning. The extra $158.38 is for an item sold in April. I am now financially screwed for the next week. Is this legal or normal?
