I have sold an item long ago outside eBay. This week a buyer purchased the item on an old eBay page that I thought was inactive and would not renew. It did and now I have a problem. So how do I refund him?
Cancel the sale. The buyer will get their money back and you should get your fees refunded.
In future it might pay to delete eBay listings if you sell elsewhere. Listings are forever unless sold or cancelled.
