New eBay user, what to sell globally.

Hi folks,

I'm new on eBay and looking to sell off some my personal collections of basketball sneakers.

My main target market is USA, but would also love to sell to other countries all together.

What's the best way to do so? Can I use my Australian account to sell on US eBay?

Thanks!

Sure. Just select worldwide postage, or pick the countries you want to sell to from the list.

Make sure you familiarise yourself with paypal protection for sellers when selling OS as they may differ slightly from what is required when posting within Australia. As a general rule, only quote tracked and signed for. There is quite a margin more opportunity to be scammed when selling to a worldwide marketplace, so do a bit of reading on what you need to do to protect yourself before you jump in.

Make sure you quote the postage costs accurately. It is expensive posting OS - so be upfront and have it in your listing clearly so there is no confusion for buyers. Take a pair to the P.O. and get some prices if unsure, you can add a bit for packaging and handling.

Packaging for OS requires more effort - it's got a much longer way to travel, so be aware of that. Pack really well.

Always message your customers when posting and let them know at approximately what lemgth of time they can expect to receive their parcel. Believe it or not many Americans think we are there in America, or possibly even Austria, so I always message and ask them to allow approximately 10-14 business days for parcels to arrive. Saves a lot of anxiety for them, and a lot of chasing up parcels for me.
