Verifying my Bank Account

I have been an eBay member for over 20 years.  Buying mainly, but selling a few things every year.  I just sold a handbag and I have a message asking me to verify my Bank Account.  Why.  I have used the same bank for 20 years and I have never been asked this before.  Is it a scam?

If it's the Chanel bag, it has to be authenticated before it's passed on to the buyer.
