What happens if a buyer pays for an item but does not collect it or respond to emails.

We sold a washing machine which the buyer paid for including the delivery to an interstate freight yard for pick up. Now after 2 months the freight yard has notified us that it is still sitting there and they want it out of there or it will be disposed of. We have emailed the buyer but as yet have had no response,

I realise the freight company would have tried to phone the receiver if unable to deliver, but have you tried yourself?  If you have, as well as emailing I dont see that there is much more you can do. You have done as requested and shipped the item, anything else would be up to the freight company.
