I sold a brand new (sealed) computer motherboard. Buyer asked for refund after 2 weeks claiming it faulty.
Although possible, failure of these item 'straight from the box' is pretty rare.
Do I have any options other than accepting the claim?
The usual procedure in these types of cases is to have the buyer return the product and if it is undamaged from incorrect fitment as well as faulty, a refund is given. I always refund item plus postage costs if an item is faulty.
Should the item be in perfect working order with no defects after warming up, the buyer is given the option of paying for the item to be posted back or a refund without postage costs.
If you find the item physically damaged that wouldn't have passed QC, up to you to decide if you want to refund and possibly get negative feedback.
