What protection is there for a seller if the buyer is dodgy, my buyer sounds dodgy and I don't want to end up with no money in my bank acct!

My buyer is from the US, but is currently in New Zealand, he wants me to post the item with FedEx to his son who is in Nigeria for his birthday.
The item was a watch worth $60, once you put on postage your better off buying a new watch.
It just sounds dodgy and I don't want to get ripped off, what do I do in this situation?!?!
Any advice would be great
