They usually do as the default setting is to have the questions appear in both ebay and email.
If you go to account tab and select communications prefs, under member to member you will see that buyer questions cannot be turned off and you should always receive an email on all questions.
If you are referring to emailing each other, ebay prefer you use ebay messaging in case you have a problem then they can see all messages to safeguard you.
