Am wanting to know the best way to pack / send comic books and what is the average cost

Protect them with plastic, and use cardboard sheets for additional protection, cereal packets are handy for this, if it is only one you can probably post in a large manila envelope, but if they have any significant value, you are best using click & send satchels, you can send quite a few in a 3kl satchel at a flat rate Au wide, and you have tracking to protect yourself.
