position in best match search

I am confused as to how the position of items are determined in the default "Best Match" search.

I sell Nature 2 Spa sanitiser cartridges as do a number of other sellers.

I am a Power Seller.

I have them listed in lots of one, two, three and four cartridges.

I was of the understanding that seller status as a Power Seller, price and quantity sold based on recent history is what determined where your item appeared on the list.

My single units are the biggest seller at the moment and it is my listing that has the largest amount sold over the listing life and over the past week, although only one today.  I have checked out the others for sale.

In spite of all this my item is only third.

The top listing has only sold two, both today, 09/11/2012 and the next one is a single item up for Auction/Buy it now and listed today.

Until recently I was neck and neck with one seller (who has none listed at present) and the others with only a couple of sales appeared lower on the list.

Can anyone explain how the position is determined then as I must have it wrong?

Cheers,

Cogs
