I recently listed a high end camera with the notation "posts to Australia" The winning bidder is located in France. I contacted him, referring him to the "posts to" condition and advising him the postage costs would be around AUD$85. He emailed me back asking me to send it without the box to get it below 1KG and save him AUD$40. I was very reluctant to do this but, even so, after trying everything could not get it below the 1KG. I emailed him of this and told him all to complicated and I had cancelled the transaction. He emailed back that he would pay the full postage costs. He declined the request to cancel and eBay advised that I would not receive the FVF credit. He had not paid at this point. Believing I had no alternative I invoiced him and he has paid the full amount. My question : Had I refused to send, would eBay have recognised the "posts to" condition of sale and waived the FVF? A postscrip Post office 20" away. 3 trips to get right postage. Then, trip to send to be told battery must be inside the camera. Back home to rip everything open and repack. Then, trip to send to be told declaration requires phone number or email for receiver which I did not have with me. Back home, viewing the world through a film of blood. Next trip, parcel sent!!
