Not invited this time, but I'm still going well with the 1000 I got last month. Just ran out of listings for VHS videos which no-one buys anyway (stupid Australia Post and its $7.45 parcel rate, which will probably jump to $8 or $10 next year too!)

I get this invitation a lot to list up to 1000 but my selling restrictions allow me only 100. I take advantage of it anyway..

Just goes to show you it pays to check into the Community, if I had not done this yesterday, I would not have known about the 1000 free listings THANKYOU!!!!  Yeaaaaayy!!!

thats the one with your items listed for sale, then your sold items, then your ended items, all on the one page

scroll down to the bottom where it shows your 40 free monthly listings

you should find it there, just click on it to accept.

It's great to get these messages for 1000 free listings + share the link with others, but has anyone ever stopped to think how many more listings this adds to the E-Bay pool of items for sale at any one time ?????

Even if only 100 sellers take up this offer; that is already 100.000 more items on E-Bay in one go !

1000 sellers is 1.000.000 more items on E-Bay in one go !

It is a known fact that if buyers have too much of a choice of 1 item - they don't make up their mind at all or have greatest of difficulty making a selection ( I think the test limit was 7 of the same item; after that the human brain goes into meltdown) or if their selection is based on finance alone they most likely pick the cheapest item on offer, just because its there !

If you relate this to E-Bay perhaps you have the answer why there are so many complaints on these boards that no one is selling anything/sales are so slow/sales have slowed down considerably/sales are in patches only etc etc

Perhaps too many cooks spoil the broth !

Interesting theory and I can see your point.  I think that eBay is already flooded with countless choices of the same thing, when it comes to common products.  It's perhaps more of a benefit to people like me who make and sell unique items.

Just taking your listings as an example:

in collectibles - transportation - automobilia: at present there are 64.665 live listings on E-Bay out of which you have 34 !!

and here is one of mine:

Crafts - Cross stitch - kits: at present there are 9.671 live listings on E-Bay out of which I have 3 !!

See what we are up against ??

Books - 19,045,006 of which I have about 1400.

Nevertheless I utilise the freebies when available, as book buyers are a bit more discerning and don't search 'books'. They tend to search by title/author, which narrows the field considerably and gives me a look in if I have that particular book listed.
