Hi
I'm really new to this selling stuff (more of a father daughter hobby than a business) and I've started getting e-mails from E'bay.
There are 2 sorts, one has the sheild next to it and is in my inbox the others dont have the sheild and are placed in my spam folder.
Should I be looking at the ones in my junk folder as I usually just empty it without opening them. I dont open e-mails sent to my spam folder so should I open them and have a look or just keep deleting them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It depends on what email service you use and your settings. I have used hotmail ever since it was first available in Australia. I have my settings set to the 'Strict' filter. This is to filter out absolute junk from going into my inbox. However, a lot of very important mail ends up in my 'junk folder' as well. I wouldn't dream of not looking at it. The types of emails that go into junk include:
It's like having two inboxes, and does the job of filtering out spam emails, but important mail can go there too. I think you should look at them. You don't have to click on them, but you can see what they are. You have probably missed a lot of important things over the years. I know I did years ago when I didn't check my junk folder (including a job offer!)

Some genuine eBay emails will go to a spam folder (as will a lot of spam, and the two aren't mutually exclusive ๐ as genuine doesn't necessarily mean important ), and any truly important messages will most often be copied to your eBay inbox. Typically, I find automated order updates and eBay promo emails about specials etc go to spam, while messages that are sent from other members via eBay, sale notifications and anything else that is also copied to eBay messages, will go to my normal inbox.
If the subject line of an email looks like it is important, it's better to look for any evidence of whatever it is on the site first rather than opening a remotely suspicious email (and all the standard recommendations apply - i.e. always go direct to the site and don't click on any links in emails or open any attachments).
