Last night I went on Live Chat to ask why a promotional offer for free listings which has suddenly appeared on my Home Page during ebay's scheduled maintainance, had just as quickly disappeared after the maintainance was complete.
I was told that they apologised for this but it was a due to a 'technical issue' they were having and unfortunately it would mean I wouldn't be able to list sale items until it was resolved.
I told the rep that infact I had no problem listing using my usual 40 free listings a month but was happy to see the extra free listings because 40 are never quite enough for me each month.
She apologised again for the 'inconvenience' this had caused me and said that she was going to immediately grant me and 'inconvenience credit' to my account. She was as good as her word and before you know it, she had credited my account with the sum of $69.31 (AUS) I wondered about the strange amount until I realised that it is equivalent to US$50.
I couldn't believe my luck !! I certainly wasn't asking for this or expecting it ! It came completely out of the blue. I guess sometimes you just get lucky !

Sure as eggs, if my goal had been to get a credit out of them instead of merely asking what had happened to the offer, I wouldn't have got it !!

I cannot believe that... a $50.00 credit WOW
Each time I rang CS even for an overcharged amount I had to fight them till they refunded and was always told the credit would not appear for weeks as they now had to send it to another Ebay Section for clearance prior to the credit being done
Good on you.. maybe things are looking up

I think your reply was probably meant for me, since I'm the one who received the credit !!
Yes, quite unbelieveable, I agree. Ebay are just a law unto themselves, literally.
Its just that you never EVER as a seller expect it to act in your favour, as it did on this occasion, for me.
