Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh....... Someone bought my listing

Hi
Yesterday after some negotiations with a buyer I listed some books that she had been looking for. The title said 'listing for blah blah' and then the name of the book.

Someone, other than the specific buyer bought them!!!

I heard all the bells and whistles on my mobile when payment was received and the item sold and presumed it was her, until this morning when she contacted saying she couldn't work out how to pay for them and that's when I discovered it was someone else.

I have contacted both buyers and have asked the buyer if he really meant to purchase them. But no response as yet

I'm a little concerned that this is another seller that I pi**ed off a few months ago by leaving her a neutral feedback and she said she would do this.

I'm not really sure what to do. I don't want to end up with a negative as that would really bring me down I think because I don't sell enough.

Any suggestions?

"phone ebay NOW"

There is no point phoning Ebay before the suspected action has been taken. They will just tell you that they can not take action against a thing that has not yet been done. If it is the person you suspect Ebay will be able to identify this one way or another but thay wont even do anything in advance. just keep your own notes/history and they will be able to fix the problem retrospectively

Obviously my last post is not relevant as the problem is solved.

wardy, glad it has worked out for you.

The last time I set up a listing for a specific buyer I put an outrageously high B-I-N price with Best-Offer feature.  I knew that nobody would pay my B-I-N price and any offers from eBayers other than the intended buyer can be declined without giving a reason.  I had told my intended buyer that I would accept their offer only.

If you had put a price of $300 on the listing with Best-Offer feature your intended buyer just needs to offer you $20 and you accept.  The only way someone else can buy is if they are prepared to pay the $300 B-I-N price (highly unlikely).

I didn't really care where the money came from either.... But the original lady had been looking for these for months, saw that I had a closed unsold listing and contacted me. At that stage I thought I had given them to lifeline And told her so.  However, dear husband didn't take them to lifeline like I thought and had actually taken them to our off site storage which I found this weekend. I contacted her on a hunch that she hadn't found them

she was pretty happy at my find so I knew she was going to be disappointed

all happy in the end

Gee. Some posters must have a history of coming very close to stepping over that thin white line then, hey?! ๐Ÿ˜›

I have occasionally listed a specific item(s) for a particular buyer but I never say it is a listing for a specific id as that could alert a trouble maker so they could buy.

I only put one or two words in the title which would be very unlikely to appear in searches.

I do not use a photo

I give no description.

I quote very high postage.

I then liaise with the buyer to arrange a time when we will both be on line, I then list, send the item number and they buy, all done within seconds with almost no chance of anyone else making the purchase.

I am pleased you and the buyers have come to a mutually acceptable, and very inventive, solution.
