The winner of my mobile phone says they can't pay for my item.
They've given me a story that they wrecked their car and lost their job (initially they said Saturday which was before they bid and when i questioned it changed to Monday and said their mobile's autocorrect got it wrong!!!)
Tonight will be exactly four days so i can lodge an unpaid item with ebay. But I don't want to wait another four days when clearly they won't pay. Is there any way to accelerate this process with this evidence? I would like to relist on Sunday as it's the most popular day but if i have to wait another 4 days I'll have to wait till the next Sunday.

you can open a UPI tonight and after 4 days if they still havent paid close the dispute an offer the under bidder a chance to buy it or relist it, the first person may have a change of heart thats why you have to go thru the process

You could offer them mutual cancellation, IF they click on accept, you get your FVF back, and you can re-list immediately. BUT they may take their time, or even click on "not aggree", if that happens you will not get your FVF back and they can give you FB.
The safest way is to do the NPB case, albeit you will have to wait for 4 days to re-list.
if you are considering to offer the mutual cancellation, send them message saying something like:
To release you from the obligation to pay I will be sending you through eBay request for "mutual cancellation" you need to click on the AGREE button as soon as possible, Please. acknowledge that you understand and that you wish to cancel the transaction.
Then wait for their reply. If you have it in writing that they did want to cancel, if they do not do it and leave you bad Fb at least you may be able to have removed. But if they do not respond; open NPB case.
However, once you actually send the mutual cancelation request you will not be able to start NPB case.
