I was sad to go to 2 different Post Offices today only to find they are closed.
I also called head office 131318 and received an automated message saying closed ๐
I guess theres no use waiting for mail to come today either?

It's the same every year. One day between Christmas Day and New Year's Day is always an AP holiday.

Post offices in SA were open all day.

Why do people feel the need to complain about AP all the time?
Monday 28th December was a gazetted public holiday in NSW...everyone was entitled to it. Anyone who worked would be paid penalty rates. Saturday was also a public holiday.
The only extra day off that AP had was 31st December....it was their gazetted Picnic Day....just like banks and other financial institutions are entitled to Bank Holiday.
A lot of post office agencies were open on the 31st. and StarTrack couriers (owned by AP) were working as well.
I think you will find that anyone who worked on Saturday or Monday received generous penalty rates.

I worked both Saturday and Monday and got paid public holiday rates for both. I am also on public holiday rates tonight as it is my companies "picnic day". If I get called back after midnight (highly likely) I will be on triple time. Same rate as when I got called in early hours of Christmas morning.
No way I'd take leave like the other losers this time of year!!! Best part about tonight is, I've been sitting on my lazy butt since 5pm and getting paid double time and a half for it. Less than an hour until home time (hopefully! )

That sounds like my OH when he worked on Christmas Day about 10 years ago.....21 hours straight. He earned nearly twice what most couriers were earning in a week in the one day.....then fronted up at 3am for his usual early morning delivery run on Boxing Day.
