EBay is a terrific market place with strict rules, high standard of product & service, customer support, low fees, exciting trading, thrilling results, ease of sale, running a business from home at your own leisure and pressure
.
My only constant dismay is the fact that no additional postage time is allocated from post offices in villages and small townships in Australian country areas like Far North Queensland, where mail is only collected from these post offices five times a week, at 5pm, Mondays to Fridays. This causes immense delays in deliveries like 10 days to Tasmania and Western Australia and mostly 5-7 days down the southern east coast of Australia.
Every low star rating and bad feedback for postage time has thus been given to me unjustly for two years. This is not eBay's fault. It is the information supplied to eBay by Australia Post. But eBay has the power to have Australia Post rectify and/or amend this.
A few additional words on the listing page would solve the problem!!!

In South Gippsland, our outward post is 5 times a week, but the outward post closes about 2.30 pm weekdays. Also with the red mail boxes in some of the smaller towns or areas, the post is cleared well before 12 noon.
I don't think we are as nearly as far out of the capital city as North Queensland - I'd hate to think what the outward post is like in the real outer or outback areas (where some of my buyers are living).
From here they used to send the post straight to Melbourne some years ago, but now it has to go through the mail centre at Traralgon or Morwell (further away from Melbourne), even when the adressee is in the next town.

Treasure,
What needs to be done is the DSR rating revised. It should be made crystal clear to buyers that postage is rated on how fast a seller posts an item NOT how quickly you receive it. Dont blame the buyer.

Partly it IS eBay's fault.
In May, AP revised standard delivery times to 2-7 days. eBay still haven't managed to implement that one, they are still using 1-6. Probably in order to inflate buyer expectations.

I find it annoying when your stars get hit for postage when everything I send everything express and I subsidise the cost, BUT now I let the buyers know if they are not in a major metro area it can take extra time.( its called learning the hard way lol)
I have been at the Post Office and they have told me 2 days and it has taken 4 so better to be safe than sorry & inform buyers.
I agree with bsal, not entirely the buyers fault, DSR terminology needs to be adjusted so buyers know exactly what they are rating.

Hi treasurezone8
Sorry to hear that this issue has affected you.
As you would be aware, postage times differ widely and depend on the length of journey a parcel takes. Most items, to most locations within Australia are received within the 1-6 business days that eBay specify. Of course this is an estimation only from eBay. The best way to calculate the journey of a parcel is to use our Postage Calculator Tool here: http://auspo.st/1dlGLKm
I hope this information helps.

Hello,
I have overcome this problem with very little effort. I print out the Order Details which I enclose with the item. But, before doing so I get a ruler and a thick black pen and obliterate the estimated delivery times. This stops the buyer comparing actual postage time to the fairytale one advised by EBay and Australia Post.
Bes wishes
Robert

Paul.
Maybe time to brush up on your employer's policies. And be a bit proactive, rather than regurgitate AP's, hard to find in the maze that is AP's website, non-policies.
Australia Post quote 2-7 days. Everybody with any experience knows that East Coast to Perth (much less remote WA) is usually 10 days, so there is definitely an issue with eBay still quoting 1-6. Maybe you are in a position to get them to update? After all, it is the already shaky reputation of your company that gets trashed in the end.

two point Paul, ~~~~~ 1. Australia Post actually quote 2-7 days
2. using your postage calculator tool may be fine and dandy, however, it does not change the fact that ebay quote 1-6 days, so if I've got a parcel going to outback WA, no matter what your Postage Calculator Tool says, it is what ebay quote that the new ebay buyer takes as 'gospel truth'
