So i just got of the phone to Australia Post and I am absolutely gobsmacked I just got told that the items I post mainly little punchie packs should be sent as a parcel and not in a standard envelope which are apparently strickly for documents and letters has anyone else heard of this my items i send generally are not even that big they are tiny and a letter would be thicker .... They said I should be sending them as a parcel ....

I'd be far more interested to find out why none of the packages I receive in envelopes or small mailers have had their stamps cancelled.
This is not an isolated incident, and every single envelope which has been posted with more than just a letter enclosed has failed to be cancelled. Not just one, and not just recently, but for every envelope or mailer I've received in the last 2-3 years.
I've been peeling them from their used envelopes and currently have around $11 in uncancelled stamps just sitting in my drawer, and I'm becoming quite tempted to use them as there is no evidence to suggest that they have ever been used previously.

Actually I send pacifiers as stamp mail, they are flexible enough that i can tape the nipple part down so that they just barely fit through the dimensions of my mail gauge. However my main competitor probably sells at least 10 a day and she just sends them un-taped in an envelope. So I gave this a try one day and my buyer ended up having to pay 6 bux to pick them up at the PO. Go figure, looks like the other seller has no problem just throwing them in an envelope and slapping some stamps on. Mind you she also blatantly advertises her website right on her ebay page lol, but thats a different story.

hi cq,
the reason for the non cancellation is usually that the sender dropped them in the local mailbox, and as they dont go thru the automatic mail machine, (which travels at about 60km p hr and cancels during that process), unless they are hand stamped they usually go the whole journey uncancelled.
there are people who wash/remove stamps and re use them, but it is illegal and a Melbourne man went to jail for major mail fraud after being convicted of not only re-using but also onselling Unused stamps.
run a 'black light' over some of yr stamps and you may find invisible inkjet markings on some that denote that they really have been thru the mail (usually dots or mini-barcodes)
I have actually been thru a Mail Sorting facility, amazing places!
