Apologies to Ebay

To think -

“We want you to grow your business and sell more things on eBay. It’s as simple as that. And we know that listings with postage incorporated into the item price convert at the highest rate.”

So in that case i'm happy to pay higher fees.Smiley Mad

Apologies to Ebay

I think the writing is on the wall.

Ebay seems to be changing direction from an auction site for home sellers, which it was a decade or so ago, and is moving towards big sellers.

It is obvious it wants everyone eventually to be like a lot of the chinese sellers and have items at buy it now with 'free postage'.

I think once the majority of sellers move into line, it will then introduce immediate payment requirements on buy it now items, rather like the kind of thing you see on the daily deal sites. Where the item in your cart is not actually yours till you pay for it.

It is interesting as if you go to a site such as aliexpress, the prices are set and you haven't bought unless you have paid, but some do include postage and some don't. I wonder what the sellers there pay commission on.

Having to pay commission on postage (there is no such thing as free postage) just means that sellers will have to put the overall price up, I would say.

The Chinese can offer free postage because they don't have Aus post shafting them sideways. Try sending something back to them it can cost triple what you paid for the whole item.
just a tip mate...never pay the list price on Aliexpress always send a hello friend email you can get things for half price.
The interesting thing about the Chinese is that when you're dealing one on one wit a seller and build up a relationship postage is all that dictates the price. it's like the items cost them nothing and everything is priced by its postage plus a small amount of profit. Seems like anyway.
