Ask a question/invoicing - have ebay been playing again?

I've had two people ask me to invoice them with combined post in the space of 2 days but they haven't actually bought anything.  These are seasoned buyers, one with over 2,000 feedback, so they should know by now that they have to buy first.

Has anyone else experienced this, and has something been changed that I've missed?  I wondered whether it might have something to do with the new ask a question feature, though I can't see anything down the bottom of my listings, only the contact seller link up the top right, or maybe they've got something in their cart and sent a message rather than requesting a total if the button wasn't showing, or maybe the cart has changed and is giving misleading messages.

I'll continue to explain that they need to buy first but if anyone has any pearls of wisdom on why it might be happening I'm all ears!

I had a few of these in the past.

I just told them I cannot do it from my end and they have to push the "buy it now" button on the items and not to pay until I can send them a combined postage invoice.

It's possible since the new inception of forcing IPR, many buyers are not familiar with it.

Some hit BIN then see checkout and think the purchase is made because the confirm button hasn't appeared.

Then they go to buy another not realizing they are not purchasing until paid.

Just a thought.

That makes sense.  I hadn't thought it through that far, partly because I didn't think they had to pay immediately for my items yet.  Only one person has paid for two items separately recently but that happens occasionally anyway.  If they now have to pay immediately for my items then 99% of my customers use the cart, which is a bit surprising.
