It now costs over $12 to send a tiny package if the item enclosed is more than 2 cm wide with packing. So the buyers are just walking away. There's no longer any point in listing individual items, rather everything needs to be listed in bulk to make postage seem 'reasonable' to prospective buyers.
Rather than just trying to gouge us for as much as they think they can get away with, this time Austpost have really pushed the market beyond what it can bear.

Is that just for postage or for postage, handling, SOD and Extra Cover ?

For me to send a small package (up to 500grams) with signature on delivery and MINIMUM cover is going to cost:
Prepaid red satchel $12.70
eBay flat rate/C&S $11.60
own pack/over counter $11.40
Don't think I would even dare add in a 'handling' fee...

Yep Aus Post have lost the plot. ๐

That's right Chezzy. It's really made that whole area of 'slightly too big for a letter' pretty much unviable. And then there's also the cost of packing materials, although I usually have enough recyclable stuff around the house for that, being more of a buyer than a seller.

'Yep Aus Post have lost the plot.'
Maybe the bricks-and-mortar retailers have exerted pressure on them to make online trading less attractive?

For those of you who are serious about complaining in relation to the new Australia Post rate increases, you can send a letter of dissatisfaction to the CEO of Australia Post, Mr Ahmed Fahour at G.P.O. Box 1777, Melbourne. Vic. 3001.

Thankyou for that address - I think I might!
I have been stalling on listing items as I have been a bit spun out by it all and not sure what way to tackle things now (for those items I DO want to sell and not drag to the Op Shop)
I fondly remember the days of cheap small parcels (2 levels) and people would merrily mail their stuff and not be paranoid about ebay/paypal 'protection' ๐
I also remember Certified and Receipted Delivery ๐

I already signed the petition a few days ago but I wonder .. would writing a letter of dissatisfaction really make a difference? I'm not saying it's not a great cause to fight for, but does complaining with a majority ever really work?
