Au revoir to any expectations of Top Rated Seller status

I have just been looking again at the requirements for Top Rate Seller status.

I have on a couple of occasions in the past achieved Top Rated seller and then its gone again.

It used to matter to me but not any more.

I will not be offering either Free postage nor 30 day money back guarantees. It just would not be worth my while. I do have a return and refund policy but 30 days is unrealistic.

So, ebay, your top rated seller program holds no currency for me. I am not in kindergarten any more and 'gold stars' just don't do it for me like they used to !!! I'm not sure they do it for a lot of buyers either

I will live with the less than enhanced search results and my lower seller rating. Like so many other of you sellers out there, I have a pretty loyal buyer base who keep coming back for more from me. They also are not hood-winked by the seller rating system. They are happy to deal with a trusted seller with whom they've dealt before. Being a favourite seller seems to really build my business just fine !!

So you misread the requirements.

PS and TRS will be bestowed on any seller who achieves $US1000 and 100 sales per annum.

The TRS+ (Premium eBay Seller?) will be item specific.

You presumably didn't have a logo much before, so why do you assume there are enough mug buyers to make a difference now?

Quality and service will win, as always.

Betty, you have a positive score of 1230 and when I looked at your neutral feedback, in my opinion it should have been positive, so I think most buyers would feel very confident to buy from you. This top rated seller business is not that important from my perspective.

The only thing that may be a downer is if it affects where you are in search results, which seems a bit unfair.

When I do a search, I would prefer the items closest to my exact terms & finishing soonest  to come up first, regardless of who listed it. That would be the most efficient thing. I don't know what ebay actually does although I have seen 'best match' come up.

Yeah you are right about the TRS logo being item specific but since i don't propose to satisfy the requirements on any of my items I will not be a candidate for the rating of TRS on any of my items.

And those 'mug' buyers you refer to as it turns out are not such mugs because in lots of cases they decide to search for items on the basis of brands they know they like, quality they know they can rely on and sellers they know they can trust.

If I was a buyer (which mostly I'm not) I don't think I would feel comfortable or confident buying from someone who referred to me as a 'mug' !!

Quality and service are the key issues and I deliver them, I believe, in spades.

betty you are misreading it all..  you will still have TRS,

it is the TRS+  which is being aimed at the higher sellers/ professional sellers / businesses.

The mugs are the ones who searxch by 'best' match, which should be the only thing that TRS+ will affect.

the real mugs are sellers who fall for the lie of free postage - they loose a bit more of their profit.

We know it's not free.

Some of us choose to pay the extra fees. I only do it for stuff that can go as a letter; costs me a whole 15c extra.
