Australia Post quoting problems

Hi there,

I am trying to do a quote for multiole postage.  I put it in a box and it weighed between 1 and 2 kg and the postage from Victoria to NSW came out at nearly $20.  I have an expandable tough bag and Tb6 and when I try and put the measurements into the Australia Post website it says that it is too long.  I dont understand this anymore and Australia Post website used to be really easy to work quotes out but not anymore.  Does anyone know an easier way.

Thanks,

Mumscats

OK thanks,  I just did the quote and it came out at nearly $25.00 for 2 items of Tupperware, this is crazy.  I dont understand how they can charge so much.  Postage of an ordinary parcel between Melbourne and Sydney used to be about $13 or $14.

Tell me aout it. I sent a parcel to Northern Europe. It weighed 850g, the box, you could fit a 10inch laptop in so it wasn't big. Postage was $69.70! My supplier in the US sends me these products, it weighs around 3kg, they priority ship it, and it only cost $18AUD! And its tracked from the Supplier ,right to my doorstep.

I know its a different part of the world, but really! Postage costs are rediculous.

Another thing too, I used to request delivery confirmation on all O/S parcels, and pay the extra. Not once have I got a confirmation back. Also, with registered post there is NO option to insure the items against loss or theft. I just went through all this two days ago with my local LPO. As I had to send a parcel to Iceland and it had a $500 value. My only option was too use normal Air Mail and opt for the insurance that way. But I know using regular Air Mail and NOT registered, eBay don't approve.

So if I go registered and it gets lost I'm screwed. If I go Regular air mail and insure it, if it gets lost, I'm covered. And the cost was near on par with Registered. Go figure.
