I had stopped selling on eBay when the charges on postage, shipping and handling fees and other restrictions became complicated. I am now back and trying to sell some of my garaged items which are mainly golf clubs. Australia Post does not accept boxes measuring more than 105cm. in length. My golf clubs on sale are longer than 105cm. Therefore they are for PICK UP only. I am losing marketing share on such sales. I went to the couriers and the charge is over $50-00 to send a golf driver to Canberra. I do not qualify for bulk discounts as I am not a retail business. I see many sellers charging $20-00 on postage Australia Wide. I suppose these sellers use couriers instead of post office. Please advise how I can overcome this downside in my sales. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I use Smart send. I find them a lot cheaper for big items which need to be posted interstate than Australia post.
I sent some Golf clubs to NSW from Melbourne for approx $28.
You can become a VIP member, whch gives you lower costs if you post around 11- 33 items a month. I not exactly sure how many items.
Or
You can use them as a Casual Customer.
They are very helpful, and have only lost one item compared to approx 6 items with Australia post. I also insure all my items incase this happens, which has cheaper insurance than Aus Post.

And a couple more things:
They come to your door for pick up, and you don't have to be home. All you need is a tapemeasure and scales, and they use various couriers such as Couriers Please, Toll, Fastway.

1) Go with fastway for any longer term relationships. No one else even comes close.
2) Pack and send is OK also if you are pack things really tight, as they go by dimensions.
3) Lastly, look for licensed post office in your area. I avoid regular post offices like a plague when it comes to sending oversized items as their measuring tape is too small.

Thanks very much, I will try fastway too
Yes, I had been using the local licenced PO operator with my longer than 105cm packages. They knocked me back recently citing their oversized packages were returned to them. I still use this local PO for smaller packages as the service is very good and I know the licensee well. Unfortunately, he had been warned and had to follow rules. I am slowly getting back into ebay sales. Thanks for your response. Cheers
