Listed some items over the long weekend and just noticed all my new listings have "E-Bay postage" next to the postage amount; the first time I have ever seen this.
It appears E-Bay now automatically puts E-Bay postage in Postal services - I'm not sure what E-Bays angle is with this one, but I just spent ages changing everything to "regular" postage, apart from one item that already has a bid on it.
To save you a lot of time having to revise everything, just make sure you thoroughly check what postal services are going to show in your listings

I have found that on a few of my items as well, even though i always list with standard postage. Very strange indeed.

Does that then give buyers a genuine gripe if you then ship without ebay genberated tracking numbers?
Shipping not as described?

I don't think it really matters to be honest. As long as it shipped within the timeframe. Besides most buyers wouldn't know the difference.
As for adding tracking numbers, it's not compulsory to do so. I never do as it's too time consuming.

My guess is that you can only post those items via the E-Bay Postal system (!) - I will find out soon enough how that is going to work........
Luckily I noticed it early enough to revise the majority of listings

the ebay postal system is still australia post.
If you are so concerned it might be best to ring them and ask the questions.

I don't see it as a problem: when listing an item, if you choose eBay Postage (eBay Australia Post Flat Rate 500g Satchel) naturally that is what appears on the listing.
So I'm guessing is that some of your items you chose that option?
I know that for a lot of my items I have listed with that postage, as currently it is the cheapest for 500g parcels.

I was only trying to warn fellow sellers that postal methods are now by default set to "E-Bay postage", so to be aware of this when preparing new listings !
I'm sure I'm not the only one not noticing this default setting before .......

Sounds similar to what they were doing by automaticall having the signature required box ticked by default
when using eBay postage about a month ago,(you had to untick it so you didn't get charged the extra
for a service you never asked for),
