Being charged eBay fees on postage...

Just wondering if someone can explain to me why we are being charged FVF`s on postage.

Final value fee

Final value fees are charged per item sold. A final value fee applies whenever you sell an item. The fee is based on the total amount paid by the buyer (item price + postage and handling charges).

Sounds like unconscionable conduct to me. eBay are good at getting away with that. They have proved this many times over the years.

Scroll down the posts history in this forum and go back in time over the past couple of years, and you'll this question asked over and over again.  It is ridiculous but unfortunately some rotten apples were exploiting eBay by having low item prices and high shipping fees to get around the final value fee.  eBay was forced into doing this.

That's the excuse they may have used but in reality all the other sites had fees on postage,(so they just

added it to the Aus site).

The postage pirates could've been stopped easily by threatening them with expulsion from the site,(for eBay

it was easy for them to be used as scape goats and have the member anger directed at them instead).

It also allowed for an easier transition to the fees.

I'm with you on this one Tazz.

It could also be referred to as 'captive audience'. 

You sell, you pay, but we (eBay) are the ones to say how high you jump pay.
