So I have noticed a huge migration from all the big companies onto eBay.. A small list I have found thus far
Target
MrToys
Billy Guyatts
Kidstuff
catchoftheday
onlineonly
Dealsdirect
Dicksmith
jbhifi
Kogan
The Good Guys
Ebay dosn't support those who have supported them since opening...all these noobs get latest ebay features, not offered to long term members..
Shame Ebay Shame !!
I dont have a problem with competition, but ebay not giving long term members the same options, just before christmas is a slap in the face...
How do you sleep at night ? on a bed of paypal stickers ??

Treasuress.4207, very well said. Your description of big corporate culture ends up causing their demise or causing their customers to go to real businesses who listen, reply, take on board feedback and always put in 100% to make sure every buyer feels happy and valued. I have not ever met a person in the last few years who has a kind word to say about eBay. I also know that we have gained a lot more business simply from disgruntled customers who have dealt with our competitors. Some big companies are so out of touch they now even invoice from overseas! Imagine the after sales 'service' their customers get, it's a nightmare! It's also about time eBay's vast profits were taxed properly in this country, and the same goes to big multi-nationals who make sales in Australia but funnel the money off to places like Ireland and Luxembourg.

Good spotting 4green2000! eBay's feedback system could cause their biggest sellers to leave as the truth starts to show up their bad conduct.

Could also be a very simple and cheap way of advertising..............
We all know how easy it is to search a large co store, so the BUG GUYS can come here, do a bit of PR and a lot of buyers will decide to search the real site to see if buying direct is even cheaper - AND GUESS WHAT - YES IT WILL BE.
Can't really imagine the BIG GUNS putting up with the eBay BS protocol regards shipping, returns and the like without having an alterior motive.
And when it comes to advertising, it is a real cheap WW platform.

I recently bought a large set of saucepans from COTD here on ebay. It wasn't available on their website (so there goes that theory of website being cheaper or directing buyers to their website from ebay)
COTD had the cheapest online price for the items, as well as being cheaper than from B&M stores near me. I'm near 3 major Westfield & same size shopping centres & another huge factory outlet complex, plus a small specialist cookware store that is a seller of the KitchenAid brand, so I did my homework on the purchase prior to buying.
Postage was flat rate & as a local I paid at least $6.00 over the odds for that, (allowing for reasonable P&H, came via AP eparcel & poorly packed in just shrinkwrap & an address sticker over the outer box - showing all contents of parcel) Items took 4 days from payment to mark as posted, & 4 more to travel a 1 hour journey across Melb. If you were in FNQ or elsewhere rurally, the fixed postage would be a bonus on such a large box of items.
How is the average ebay seller supposed to compete with that? Even a fairly high volume one with an AP contract? Or the High St B&M shop that had the same items I bought for $200 more, on special? I try to support the small seller wherever I go. So rarely shop at the big complexes where the stores are all the same. Now ebay is becoming just like all those Westfields & similar, all the diversity is disappearing. Thank heavens I still have a local greengrocer & bakery! Though nearly all the Milk Bars, Delis & small butchers have gone from my area.

deals direct started as an ebay seller didn't they? I think I remember reading something about that.

Be interesting to know how they get around the 'not to be offered for sale elsewhere' rule that applies to the rest of eBay sellers wouldn't it ?
